Remediation (encapsulation/ removal)
Keeping everyone in the loop
For both domestic and commercial premises, the Asbestos Register and Asbestos Management Plan must be provided (during the planning stages) to everyone who will be on site. This includes, but is not limited to:
Asbestos remediation contractors
Plumbers
Electricians
Trades
General contractors etc.
All of the above should request both the live Asbestos Register and the Management Plan prior to starting work, to ensure they also support the Duty of Care regulations. If you need help with your management plan and subsequent contractor involvement, please give us a call or use the contact form to get in touch.
3 different types of asbestos removal
Licensed Work
Any licensed work must be carried out by an HSE Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor (LARC).
Non-licensed and Notifiable Non-Licensed work
All non-licensed and notifiable non-licensed work with asbestos must be carried out as detailed on the task sheets within the HSE resource Asbestos Essentials. Those carrying out the work must have had the correct level of information, instruction and training, to protect themselves and others from the risks to health that exposure to asbestos causes.
Air testing - independent laboratory air monitoring
If required, air monitoring must be undertaken by an independent UKAS accredited laboratory. To prevent a conflict of interest, ideally the lab is not appointed by the remediation company carrying out the work and should be dealt with as part of your management plan.
Asbestos Waste Disposal - carriers' license
If you hold an upper tier waste carriers license, it is possible to transport small amounts of waste - if a skip is not required - to a fully licensed Asbestos waste transfer station.
We do anything to do with Asbestos...and preferably nothing else, so if you need help with any of the above and management of asbestos removal, please get in touch.
